03:59 ironcamel pdurbin: what client are you using for your pdurbin_m user?
04:00 pdurbin IRC999 on iPhone per http://sourcefu.com
04:00 pdurbin but i need to give this phone back. stays with the old/current job
04:00 ironcamel how can iphone run an irc client
04:01 ironcamel does it run in the background?
04:01 pdurbin in practice, it disconnects after a little while
04:01 pdurbin i'm usually not on there very long
04:01 pdurbin i guess i
04:02 ironcamel i was referring to the multitasking limitation of iphones
04:02 pdurbin 'll start using AndChat on android some more, but i don't like that it requires me to use a password at login to freenode
04:02 ironcamel i know you can multitask some things
04:03 ironcamel i use yaaic (yet another android irc client), haven't used anything else
04:03 pdurbin multitasking on iOS was introduced with version... uh. 5?
04:03 ironcamel pdurbin: but it was not real multitasking iirc
04:03 pdurbin crimsonfubot: lucky yaaic yet another android client
04:03 crimsonfubot pdurbin: http://www.yaaic.org/
04:03 ironcamel meaning it limited the type of things that were allowed
04:04 pdurbin i dunno, but i'm able to switch to different apps... mail... safari... g+, etc, and go back to IRC999 and stay connected (for a while)
04:05 ironcamel if you are interested, google: does iphone have real multitasking
04:05 pdurbin heh. ok
04:06 pdurbin dunno why they don't just link to this from their homepage: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.yaaic
04:06 pdurbin i'll definitely try it out. thanks!
04:14 pdurbin huh. i don't know what "ident" means
04:15 pdurbin_m joined #sourcefu
04:15 pdurbin_m mmm, no password
04:15 ironcamel that makes me wonder how many words in the dictionary start with "ident"
04:15 ironcamel too bad they don't have a "real" online dictionary
04:15 pdurbin_m text is a little small
04:16 ironcamel so that you can flip through the pages
04:16 pdurbin_m bumped it up from 11px to 13
04:17 pdurbin_m very nice client
04:17 ironcamel great. and you will let me know which one is better, once you have played with it.
04:19 pdurbin yaaic is definitely better
04:21 * pdurbin updates http://sourcefu.com to list it
04:21 pdurbin i guess i should set up the same github irc hook thing i have in #crimsonfu
04:21 pdurbin funny, pdurbin_m just timed out
04:22 pdurbin android must not have real multitasking either!! :)
04:22 ironcamel stupid android
04:22 ironcamel windows phone ftw!
04:24 pdurbin this is great. i haven't been signing in from my android phone
04:24 pdurbin now i can bother you people even more
04:27 Topic for #sourcefu is now http://sourcefu.com | logs at http://irclog.greptilian.com/sourcefu/today
05:22 pdurbin hmm, maybe i won't try *too* hard to get the javaee team i'll be joining to use vagrant :( http://irclogger.com/.vagrant/2012-11-30#1354252113
06:18 codex any git guru's around?
06:19 codex need some basic help -- something that i am just missing
08:24 codex I think i figured it all out :)
08:24 codex pdurbin: I think i figured out how to fix git - it turned it out it was a location/dir apache permission issue...the dir being the one from /var/www/site/git... instead of the /home/user/www-sym/git
08:25 codex i think that was messing everything up all along, and the post hook had some weird chmod (which at one point I needed, no longer the case)

14:38 pdurbin codex: glad you're getting more into git :)
14:39 pdurbin interesting MVC stuff on the java pub house podcast... busy. more in a bit
16:07 semiosis pdurbin: so you're going to be doing java dev... in vi?
16:17 codex pdurbin: definitely. I am starting to really appreciate the git features over svn
16:17 codex i've always accepted git as a better alternative for code, but until now, it was too frustrating to get the central server working over ssh <-> http <-> webdav
16:18 codex part of this was the really old version of git that i had
16:18 codex which had bugs
16:39 pdurbin yeah. i haven't really used webdav much, so that part has been non-issue for me. i love git
16:40 codex :)
16:40 codex i am going to setup gitolite -- looks good, but for now i got everything to work correctly (or at least it seems that way)
16:40 codex still need to verify issue of pushing large commits from remote location -- that had a lot of problems
16:41 codex but ssh <-> webdav <-> gitweb all works now
16:41 codex no more permission breaks and such
16:45 pdurbin yeah, i was thinking of gitlite so people can clone from http://git.greptilian.com .  right now all they get is that gitweb interface
16:46 pdurbin so for now i just throw stuff on github if i want people to be able to clone it

17:32 semiosis gitolite is nice i did some work with it a few months ago
17:32 semiosis but i switched to gitlab, using that now
17:32 semiosis it uses gitolite internally too
17:46 amal joined #sourcefu
18:22 pdurbin semiosis: right. i should look at that too

20:41 raprasad the "pexpect" lib
20:44 pdurbin good ol' expect

21:00 ericmattison github's down... boo.
21:00 pdurbin yeah. been driving me crazy all day
21:00 pdurbin (crazier)
21:27 pdurbin like the honeybadger, westmaas don't care. he's on launchpad
21:28 westmaas haha
21:28 westmaas actually the code is really hosted on github
21:28 westmaas just the bug tracking and questions are on launchpad now
21:28 westmaas gets mirrored over to launchpad
21:29 pdurbin oh
21:30 pdurbin well, gotta run... pick up the kids. have a good weekend, #sourcefu
21:30 pdurbin crimsonfubot: lucky honeybadger don't care
21:30 crimsonfubot pdurbin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r7wHMg5Yjg
21:30 pdurbin good job, crimsonfubot
21:38 semiosis such a badass
21:58 westmaas haha yeah he is
23:11 pdurbin semiosis: i only just notice your comment about vi. as much as i love it, i'm sure i'll be using netbeans like everyone else on the team: http://guides.thedata.org/book/i-build-environment-netbeans
23:11 pdurbin noticed
23:12 pdurbin this is podcast i mentioned earlier: Java Public House: Episode 12. Giving the Model a Controlling View (The Model-View-Controller pattern) - http://www.javapubhouse.com/2012/01/episode-11-giving-model-controlling.html
23:14 pdurbin the funny thing that i had never heard before was MVC described in terms of a computer
23:14 pdurbin model = cpu (the tower, to be old school)
23:14 pdurbin view = the monitor
23:14 pdurbin controller = the keyboard
23:25 semiosis netbeans, wow
23:27 westmaas yea...
23:29 semiosis i started with netbeans, back when it was sunone studio
23:29 semiosis that was in college
23:29 semiosis but seems like now everyone uses eclipse
23:29 semiosis (pro java devs i know at least)
23:33 westmaas we had some people from thoughtworks here for  awhile
23:33 westmaas and they saw us using eclipse
23:33 westmaas and then converted everyone over to intellij
23:34 westmaas i wasn't writing code any more
23:34 westmaas but all the devs said it was 10 times better
