09:34 neuro_sys Is there a tool to generate java beans from an XML response (outputted by jax-rs)?
09:42 pdurbin huh. that'd be a nice trick
10:17 acuzio jaxb ?
10:23 acuzio neuro_sys: ask Quest he would knoe
10:25 neuro_sys yeah, there's this xjc from jaxb that runs on xsd, xml schemas

14:02 neuro_sys why on earth doesn't Xstream compatible with jaxb out of the box?
14:03 * pdurbin is picking sessions for Java One
14:06 neuro_sys s/doesn't/isn't/
14:07 neuro_sys pdurbin: when is it due?
14:07 tjsnell cheeser is speaking
14:08 pdurbin neuro_sys: not sure but some are already full :(
14:09 pdurbin tjsnell: I suspect I'll meet him. He's friends with a coworker who's going

14:10 pdurbin crimsonfubot: lucky java one

19:05 balazare What is a good way to test a REST interface? Anything in JUnit maybe?
19:07 tjsnell SoapUI
19:08 tjsnell or just write your tests using JUnit or (better) TestNG
19:08 tjsnell it's easy to use URLConnection and friends to test it
19:11 balazare I tried my luck with restfuse which looks pretty clean, but has no cookie suppport
19:15 tjsnell what is your REST api using cookies for?
19:16 balazare just a session cookie
19:19 acuzio_ joined ##javaee
19:24 balazare I think you are right, its better if I roll my own tests in testng. Luckily this is a new project and I get too choose :)
19:24 pdurbin balazare: restfuse. The open-source JUnit extension to test HTTP/REST APIs - EclipseSource Developer Portal - http://developer.eclipsesource.com/restfuse/
19:25 balazare yep that's the one
19:25 balazare promising, but incomplete
19:25 pdurbin oh. bummer
19:26 pdurbin balazare: incomplete in what way?
19:26 balazare Cookie support is pretty much non-existant
19:27 balazare the rest seems fine as far as I have used it
19:28 pdurbin great
19:42 sfisque best way to test restful?   curl + perl
19:42 sfisque :-)
19:42 Naros left ##javaee
19:43 pdurbin heh. I love perl but I was using curl+python recently until I switched to curl+ruby :)

23:15 Technodrome good day
23:29 whartung o/ Technodrome
23:30 Technodrome how are you whartung
23:30 whartung good
23:33 Technodrome i'm still contemplating my framework for my special project :)
23:34 whartung oh really?
23:34 whartung that's the beauty of standards -- there's so many to choose from :)
23:34 Technodrome people might hate me for this , but i kinda like struts2 a bit
23:34 Technodrome struts2/springmvc/wicket are my top 3 at this point i guess
23:35 whartung struts 2 is good
23:42 tjsnell is it 2002?
23:43 whartung Strut2 != Struts1 tjsnell
23:43 tjsnell don't insult me
23:43 tjsnell I have code in struts2
23:43 tjsnell I'm well aware of what it is
23:44 tjsnell I contributed to it and wouldn't touch it now :)
23:44 whartung what would you recommend?
23:44 tjsnell wicket, play or gwt if you must go all java
23:45 whartung so you like the component style frameworks?
23:45 tjsnell or angularjs on the frontend and some jackson/jersey backend
23:45 whartung yea, I can see that as well
23:56 Technodrome tjsnell: what frameworks do you like?
23:56 Technodrome ah
23:56 Technodrome GWT is something i never could like
23:57 Technodrome i like wicket, but struts2 is very light and straight forward, its similar in many ways to the *web* part of spring MVC, there is nothing that makes it so much radically different
23:57 tjsnell spring MVC is really crap
23:58 whartung don't hold back tjsnell… only the truth will do here :)
23:58 sfisque aye.  if you're building "view" based workflows, struts/tiles will do well.  if you need component based (lots of ajax) jsf/wicket/etc. will do better
23:58 whartung si
23:59 tjsnell struts is never the right choice
23:59 tjsnell the world has moved on
23:59 tjsnell better methodologies
23:59 tjsnell struts is stuck in the past
23:59 whartung I said earlier, I question the need for the component based fw today with the rich JS widgets
23:59 tjsnell a comfortable past for many
23:59 tjsnell good for you!
23:59 tjsnell folks get stuck with comfortable
