19:12 mpasteven hmm
19:12 mpasteven This upcoming vJUG seems interesting, especially the adopt a JSR
19:33 pdurbin mpasteven: this one? Participate in the Future of Java - Virtual Java User Group (London, England) | Meetup - http://www.meetup.com/virtualJUG/events/235236458/
20:04 mpasteven yes
20:06 pdurbin mpasteven: is there a JSR you're particularly interested in?
20:26 mpasteven yes
20:27 mpasteven JSR 360
20:27 mpasteven Although no idea if it is actually abandoned however
20:28 mpasteven Last mailing list message was 2014
20:28 mpasteven and the final release was 2014
20:31 pdurbin huh, Connected Limited Device Configuration 8
20:32 pdurbin "a framework for Java ME applications describing the basic set of libraries and virtual-machine features that must be present in an implementation" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connected_Limited_Device_Configuration
20:32 mpasteven I am implementing that JSR in a project that I work on
20:33 mpasteven Currently incomplete though
20:33 pdurbin what sort of devices are you targeting?
20:34 mpasteven Hopefully everything
20:35 pdurbin I don't even know what runs Java ME. I assume a Raspberry Pi.
20:35 mpasteven Yes
20:35 mpasteven And a few other systems
20:35 mpasteven I do not believe Oracle has done much with it, at least publically disclosed anyway
20:36 mpasteven Probably the weakest I would go would be NES-like hardware
20:37 * pdurbin has fond memories of his NES
20:37 mpasteven I have had to rethink some things to support such a thing however
20:37 mpasteven Java ME has optional stuff
20:37 mpasteven So a NES target would probably just be a few dozen classes
20:38 mpasteven I am rewriting my build system and writing up an interpreter though
20:38 mpasteven So to allow me to test configurations as needed
20:40 mpasteven Such a minimal configuration though, would basically be limited to hello worlds though
20:40 mpasteven or very simple programs
20:43 pdurbin reminds me of "Of course it runs NetBSD" https://www.netbsd.org
20:46 mpasteven Also want to experiment and see how far write once, run anywhere can be taken
20:46 pdurbin the promise of Java
