16:05 karstensrage whats the motivation behind VirtualJUG
16:05 karstensrage why is sjmaple so into it?
16:05 karstensrage and the others of course
16:08 pdurbin karstensrage: the Boston JUG meets far enough away from Boston that I'm not motivated to ride my bike to events.
16:23 karstensrage i like  it a lot, just seems like a lot of work
16:23 karstensrage so kudos to them

16:44 karstensrage i used to
16:44 pdurbin karstensrage: what kind of Java stuff are you working on?
16:46 karstensrage i do almost everything in Java, im writing a blog post on why my resume looks like devops, but right now im trying to codify some decision logic in a blocking app, sort of like fail2ban for an application
16:47 karstensrage my reasons for loving java are twofold, 1) everything has already been solved, multiple times

16:49 karstensrage e mind of some cowboy that figured it would be better to re-write than use something that solved 96.7% of their problem
16:50 karstensrage if that makes any sense
17:03 pdurbin yeah, it's a mature platform and ecosystem
17:06 karstensrage what are you working on pdurbin
17:08 pdurbin https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse
17:15 karstensrage whoa is github down?
17:22 karstensrage carekit
20:30 pdurbin karstensrage: the Boston meetings do sound pretty interesting though: http://www.nejug.org/events/show/183
