09:57 prologic So with MCL (https://github.com/prologic/minimal-container-linux) I'm thinking of now building out facilities to pre-generate rsa keys for ssh and ssl certs for docker as part of the "clouddrive" (cloudinit) configs
10:00 prologic Although maybe I should just do what boot2docker does and persist data to disk on any disk albelled DATA
12:41 pdurbin prologic: cool, but what's the big picture?
12:42 prologic to replace Rancher OS
12:42 prologic build a platform to run containers
12:42 prologic nothing more
12:43 pdurbin I think we're using Rancher OS at work.
12:43 prologic good for you :)
12:43 prologic it's "okay" -- but was better
12:44 prologic latest versions now require 1280MB to boot and once booted have an idle rss of ~700MB before running a single useful container
12:44 prologic I still run Rancher OS in all my clusters (but not for long)
12:44 prologic I'll be slowly replacing all my clusters with MCL
12:44 pdurbin Yikes. My Ubuntu droplet on Digital Ocean has the smallest amount of RAM possible. And cheapest price: five bucks a month. Works fine for my needs.
12:45 prologic indeed
12:45 prologic you won't be able to boot Rancher OS on a $5/month Droplet anymore
12:45 prologic minimal is the $10/monbth ones
12:45 prologic I opened an issue on this for rancher/os
12:45 prologic afaik it's still open
12:46 pdurbin sorry, I'm not using Rancher. I'm talking about the team down the hall.
12:46 prologic this is why I created MCL
12:46 prologic and working heavily on it until it's production ready and I'm running it everywhere
12:51 pdurbin good to eat your own dogfood
