Time S Nick Message
12:59 dotplus kzisme: I am the wrong person to ask about that - in my (very limited) experience with electron apps, I hate them. AIUI, they optimize for the developer's ease-of-use, which is only appropriate for PoC apps.
15:05 pdurbin I'm using "preamble" in some code and after looking at this I may add a "postamble": https://english.stackexchange.com/questions/35699/what-word-means-the-opposite-of-preamble :)
15:05 pdurbin Or switch to prologue/epilogue.
20:46 aditsu aftword? :p or just P.S.
20:50 pdurbin I'm going with intro vs ending.
20:50 pdurbin contact.context.dataset.intro
20:50 pdurbin contact.context.dataset.ending
21:27 aditsu if you have intro, you must have outro
21:31 kzisme dotplus: I _want_ to like the apps, but I can't bring myself to do it heh
21:58 aditsu electron is such a misnomer, it should be called supermassive black hole
22:02 aditsu https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6okwg6PiSis
22:10 pdurbin heh. outro. touche
22:12 pdurbin nice song
22:53 kzisme Also great live if you've never seen them!
23:13 bear my fear of electron (or any of the hey-i'm-really-js-running-in-a-chromeless-browser apps) like atom or such is this... they are security black holes running who knows what version of the browser or nodejs with all of the "let's load some random module from the internet" issues
23:41 pdurbin better not load the random modules then :)
23:41 pdurbin bear: is it any different than browser addons?
23:42 bear yea, it is security theatre for some parts - sure
23:42 bear but with browser addons you do have some people looking at them and approving or disproving
23:43 pdurbin ah, ok. app store model
23:43 bear but with an electron app - you have zero visibility into what is being loaded or how old it is
23:43 pdurbin what could possibly go wrong? ;)
23:43 bear it's like when I see devs downloading random vim or emacs modules
23:44 pdurbin curl $REMOTE_SCRIPT | sudo bash -
23:53 bear a security tool we started using had that as the install step
23:53 bear I :facepalmed: and sent a query asking if they were serious
23:55 pdurbin :)
