15:20 pdurbin Interesting. For a long time it has been said that Python 2.x will stop receiving security updates in 2020 but a few days ago Guido and company got more specific that there will be no security fixes after January 1st of that year: https://github.com/python/devguide/pull/344
15:22 pdurbin The new date has already been plugged into https://pythonclock.org which now shows that Python 2.x will retire in 1 year, 9 months, and 13 days.
15:24 pdurbin I just rewatched Steve Jobs saying a eulogy over Mac OS 9 in a casket (the rose at the end is a nice touch) and I think the Python folks should do something similar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1SLCAiGkVQ
15:25 pdurbin He really emphasized that developers should not be working on OS 9 code at all any more, that internally Apple had already made the switch away from working on that old code.
15:52 pdurbin Ok, I just wrote a little bit about this at http://wiki.greptilian.com/python/downsides
15:52 pdurbin Feedback welcome.
