So I'm thinking of building a small daemon in Go that will run on UNIX(ish) systems like Linux, OS X, BSD whose sole purpose is to periodically collect system metrics (and custom metrics via user scripts) and publish them to (at first) InfluxDB |

prologic: adding to the world of monitoring, especially improvements to the data flow to tsdbs sounds like a great thing! one question: would it not be easier to add publish-to-influxdb support to one of the plethora of existing metric-collecting agents? perhaps collectd which I know has an established method for output plugins? |

sivoais - sorry for the lag in updating, some real-life issues slowed me down... the update is that my tarball was the dev side of the house and i'm reaching out to the person who is supposed to be maintaining that box to ask why it's offline, so working on it |
