02:47 sivoais have you all heard of the Chandler project before? <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chandler_(software)>
02:48 sivoais I had kept hearing about it before, but it seems that the project ended up dying despite all the outside funding put into it
14:58 bear sivoais - I was part of the Chandler team
15:01 bear it received almost no outside funding and the real reason it died was due to project member egos and client (ego driven) design
15:05 sivoais interesting. It seems that the foundation website and SVN repos are also gone
15:05 sivoais and there doesn't seem to be a clear announcement of the end of the project or a post-mortem
15:06 sivoais the only thing I can still find is the mailing list archives
15:07 sivoais did it just wind-down?
15:07 bear the website and svn repos all went away because the person who is supposed to be manageing the little bit of money that is left did not pay the domain fee :/
15:20 sivoais I keep on coming across FOSS projects that seemed promising, but they fade away and the repositories become unavailable. This usually happens after a rewrite or bringing in an outside team. I suppose that's true of all software projects, but one of the touted benefits of FOSS is that anyone else can pick up the code.
15:20 sivoais but I don't think that happens that much, right?
15:23 bear that type of maintenance loss is an ever present issue
15:24 bear with git it has a chance to be solved because every git repo has at least the whole of the code base
15:25 bear I have the whole of the chandler repo on a hard drive some place (I was the build/release person for the project)
