01:16 pdurbin the answer to this is "yes" apparently: Is there already a TodoMVC for back end (server-side) technologies? · Issue #1 · pdurbin/addressbookmvc - https://github.com/pdurbin/addressbookmvc/issues/1
01:16 prologic hey pdurbin
01:16 pdurbin in a comment I linked to https://github.com/kouphax/todomvc-server and https://github.com/frameworktodo
01:16 prologic I'm almost done with my AddressBookMVC example for circuits (Python)
01:17 prologic just finishing off the UI (hardest part for me!)
01:17 pdurbin prologic: cool. despite finding those I'm gonna merge your stuff anyway
01:17 prologic been flat strapped with lots of other things and a small 4-day Easter break with teh family
01:17 pdurbin aditsu: and your stuff. just let me know when
01:17 prologic well
01:17 prologic if you "merge" my example proper
01:17 prologic then I'll stop "force pushing"
01:18 prologic and send your PR(s) for the rest of the things I need to do :)
01:18 pdurbin eh? why would you force push to your own repo?
01:18 pdurbin we'll get all the code in one place somehow. don't worry
01:19 prologic hehe
01:19 prologic I sometimes do I guess
01:19 prologic I'm still torn between clean commits vs commit everything
01:19 prologic i.e: squashing vs. non-squashing
01:19 prologic I've always believed in the later
01:19 prologic but I think it's a matter of personal taste
01:20 pdurbin I like little commits. progress along the way
01:20 prologic squashing makes it hard to then later bisect a source tree for bugs and identify an exact revision or change that introduced the defect
01:20 prologic me too
01:20 prologic :)
01:20 pdurbin and speaking of UIs I just threw up a little in my mouth playing with the Android app I made
01:21 pdurbin but it's useful! I'm finding stuff I didn't know existed
01:22 pdurbin now that I can point it at production: http://datascience.iq.harvard.edu/blog/dataverse-40-here
01:22 pdurbin which is to say, we shipped
01:22 pdurbin :)
01:34 prologic nice
01:34 prologic yeah I find UI(s) in general to be one of the hardest things to "get right"
01:34 prologic it's far too subjective :)
01:34 prologic and I suck at it :)
01:59 pdurbin it's something I'd like to get better at
01:59 pdurbin I don't know what a nice framework is for building GUIs.
02:00 pdurbin so far I've used JSF and Android
02:10 pdurbin I guess I hacked on a GTK app a few years ago but I didn't know what the f I was doing.
02:10 pdurbin have hacked together little PHP apps
02:18 prologic yeah
02:18 prologic I've done a few Delphi desktop apps
02:19 prologic hacked on a GTK app or two
02:19 prologic since those days it's all been Web UI stuff
02:19 prologic but I tend to avoid it as much as possible and go for those "backend/engineer" roles :)
02:21 prologic I tbqh think the best UI framework these days is Twitter BOotstrap
02:21 prologic I haven't really come across anything "better" or "simpler" (yet)
02:21 prologic oh Java Swing was "okay" back in my Uni days :)
02:21 prologic haha
02:21 pdurbin we use bootstrap with JSF
02:21 prologic ahh yeap
02:21 pdurbin but I think of it mostly as css
03:02 prologic yeah
03:03 prologic https://github.com/chriskiehl/Gooey
03:03 prologic This I find interesting for a number of reasons
03:04 prologic but in general I'd really love it if we could define User Interfaces programatically in a consistent way like we do with CLI(s) and API(s)
10:34 pdurbin huh. that is interesting

15:35 semiosis pdurbin: javafx!
15:35 semiosis pdurbin: that's for desktop GUIs at least
16:17 pdurbin semiosis: yeah? that good?
20:37 pdurbin maybe I should keep hacking on 2048 then
