11:53 pdurbin sivoais: thanks for mentioning http://scholarlykitchen.sspnet.org/2013/07/17/scholarly-kitchen-podcast-anita-de-waard-on-the-semantic-web-data-and-discovery/ at http://irclog.greptilian.com/sourcefu/2013-07-19 ... I'm really enjoying it
11:55 pdurbin she mentions the Beyond the PDF conference: http://www.force11.org/beyondthepdf2
11:56 pdurbin (which she helped organized)
11:59 pdurbin my boss's boss attended that conference and talked about the project I work on (Dataverse Network). Someone at the conference even drew a picture of a Dataverse, which I posted here: https://plus.google.com/109286963798585104204/posts/WW6Gfj8dF5Z
12:06 pdurbin too bad she doesn't mention Dataverse in the podcast though. She mentions figshare and this one from CERN I hadn't heard of: http://zenodo.org
12:07 pdurbin hmm, Chris Erdmann, Head Librarian at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, knows about it: http://www.openaire.eu/en/component/content/article/9-news-events/457-zenodo-is-launched
12:19 pdurbin on the podcast, she (Anita de Waard) says Zenodo is a collaboration between CERN and Harvard but I'm not sure this is true...

20:06 sivoais interesting. I have been following the Beyond the PDF conference/community since I found out about them last year. I am really fascinated in changing how scholarly communication works. There's so much potential for technology that still hasn't even been tried.
21:48 pdurbin sivoais: absolutely. I've been talking to one of the developers for http://dash.harvard.edu a lot lately
21:49 pdurbin (mostly because he knows a lot about a protocol I'm trying to implement: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SWORD_%28protocol%29 )
21:59 sivoais pdurbin: I saw that you were writing about that before. Does the SWORD protocol allow for retrieving/searching data from the repositories? Or is that done through other protocols like SRU, Z39.50?
22:14 sivoais ah, the other protocol is OAI-PMH
23:02 emre joined #sourcefu
23:06 pdurbin sivoais: yeah, dataverse supports those OAI-PMH and z39.50 already. And LOCKSS: Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe - http://www.lockss.org :)
23:06 pdurbin sivoais: I'm still exporing SWORD. its focus is depositing data
