13:08 k_j why cannot anybody answer my simple question
14:05 tbsf joined #rest
14:42 pdurbin k_j: I guess you're saying you'd do a GET on /my/entry and you'd use a verb (let's say "publish") with PUT /my/entry/publish
14:43 k_j no, the question is how to design a rest api server side, to answer long polling requests from client which want to monitor a resource. what does the server has to do or implement sothat no events would be missed by two consecutives calls from a client
14:45 k_j rest it too much focused on the client implementation, but no real or widely adopted design criteria exist for the server-side of the medal
14:48 pdurbin If the call from the client is just "what is the status?" who cares if the server misses the occasional call? Can't the client just try again?
14:50 k_j pdurbin, it's more than that, the client might be interested in any new event from the resource being monitored, or i miss the point of long polling
15:04 pdurbin k_j: have you asked on stackoverflow? If so, please give us a link to your question.
