10:24 HC|Carl what is the best practise on searching using a filter object by rest standards?
10:25 HC|Carl eg. get contracts by a list of identifiers
10:25 HC|Carl do i use GET or POST
10:26 HC|Carl i would think post because i construct a search; therefore i can provide a requestbody containing the filterobject
10:26 HC|Carl is my reasoning correct?

10:38 interop_madness HC|Carl, you definitely want POST. consider e.g.that one day the search functionality needs to be extended to support complex queries like AND, OR, braces, etc. however, you might want an additional GET endpoint for trivial searches like GET /contracts/search?fulltext=contoso
10:38 HC|Carl thx interop_madness

10:54 spaceone HC|Carl: There will be a SEARCH method (I think it still takes dome month)
10:55 spaceone some
11:03 HC|Carl spaceone, can you provide me with more context? does this concern http/2 or?

11:21 spaceone HC|Carl: https://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-snell-search-method-00
11:22 HC|Carl thanks spaceone
11:26 quimrstorres joined #rest
11:29 trygvis well, that draft haven't seen much action after the initial version

11:39 HC|Carl mmm does this make the draft obsolete?
11:40 quimrstorres joined #rest
11:42 trygvis obsolete implies that it has been replaced by something else, but this has just timed out
11:43 trygvis but it is the internet, you can do whatever you want :)
11:43 trygvis just don't expect any interop
11:44 _ollie joined #rest
11:47 pdurbin :)
11:49 trygvis but it does look like a good proposal, so I would kinda hope that it would go through. in particular if some useful media types came at the same time

12:51 HC|Carl obsolete was used as an adjective which implies it's just outdated ;-) but this is not #english
12:52 HC|Carl thanks for the help on the topic
12:56 trygvis :)
12:56 trygvis obsolete has a specific meaning in IETF/RFC contexts
13:01 HC|Carl ok did not know that
13:03 HC|Carl in my defence my usage of the word obsolete was not used in that context; i don't talk RFC :p
13:03 HC|Carl but whatever
13:03 HC|Carl it's of no use keeping this "discussion" alive
