11:39 rincewind666 hi! What kind of HTTP status code would be most suitable when denying a post request that contains two items that are not allowed to be combined according to some business rules?
11:40 pdurbin bad request

11:51 rincewind666 ok, even though it's semantically correct?
11:57 trygvis it is not semantically correct if the rules say it's not correct
11:58 trygvis actually, 422 is probably what you want. 400 is bad syntax, 422 is bad semantics
11:58 trygvis though I think 400 is much more used
11:58 trygvis 422 is also from webdav
12:05 rincewind666 ah ok, meant syntactically correct
12:05 rincewind666 thanks for the help

12:16 trygvis I think 400, 401, 403 are about the only responses I use in my apps. possibly 405 too

14:15 * fumanchu uses 409 all the time. but not for that.
14:16 trygvis yeah, that is a useful one but haven't been applicable for my apps
14:17 fumanchu apply only to applicable applications
14:18 trygvis :)

14:40 ironChicken i suppose when an application is inapplicable it must be an inapplication
14:42 ironChicken but the abbreviation in-app (for in-application) is a coinage of the mobile crowd
