04:27 saml_ hey, url (path) cannot contain spaces right?
04:27 saml_ has to be /a+b  or /a%20b
04:27 saml_ GET /a b HTTP/1.1    chocks some servers

14:09 bigbluehat well kids http://tech.slashdot.org/story/14/10/03/129220/internet-explorer-implements-http2-support?utm_source=rss1.0moreanon&utm_medium=feed
14:10 bigbluehat IE is getting HTTP/2.0
14:14 blongden O.O
14:15 bigbluehat yeah...we'll see...I guess
14:30 fumanchu *snort*
14:31 fumanchu gotta love standards-before-code
14:32 blongden Well I guess someone had to be first.
14:32 blongden Surprised it was IE though... :)
14:33 fumanchu I am partly
14:33 fumanchu I'm surprised whenever they seem to be on the cutting edge of dev
14:34 blongden Yeah. Which is more often that I expect.
14:34 fumanchu I'm not surprised they're eager to replace HTTP/1 with something more opaque
14:35 fumanchu one of the first mantras out of the http2 WG was "you don't need your messages to be readable on the wire. build tools for that." and I couldn't help but think "Microsoft must be drooling at the prospect of selling more tools"
14:37 fumanchu "now's our chance to remake the Internet in our image"
14:37 fumanchu I'll stop ;)
14:39 blongden So cynical!
14:39 blongden haha :)

15:48 interop_madness is it possible to limit facets over a PathHierarchyTokenizer field to the first level only?
15:50 dreamdust "the new standard communicates metadata in binary format to significantly reduce parsing complexity."
15:50 dreamdust is that a joke
15:52 blongden dreamdust: HTTP/2 ?
15:52 dreamdust yeah
15:53 blongden It's all binary, yeah - you can inspect it using wireshark at the moment (and I am quite sure there will be a whole ton of other tooling)
15:54 blongden From an HTTP/1.1 perspective - it's just the transport over the wire that's changing - the same methods will be available.
15:54 dreamdust sure its more efficient.. .I just think its odd people think that makes it less complex
15:54 dreamdust its going to be just as complex… if not more so
15:54 blongden Less complex for machines
15:54 blongden Not humans
15:54 dreamdust eh
15:55 blongden There are four ways to parse HTTP right now
15:56 blongden 2616 section 4.4 details it... but essentially, all that goes away in HTTP/2
15:57 blongden ... as I understand it :)
